Tale 1: Xödan’s Duel

In the ruins of the fourth war, the entire technological and futuristic world of Xödan was reduced to carcasses and dust. That would be the end; after that era Xödan would never be the same, little by little survivors only lived by looting leftovers. The hierarchies were gone, from then on the game was each man for himself.

However, a society emerged in a western forest, known as Lefulness, where three huge ships closed off a region: the first ship was called Greedatin, it was the smallest of them and was used by men as a village store; the one in the middle was Catherin, it was the ship in which, by some miracle, the controls still worked, facilitating the various productions, this was used as a factory; the third, Christin, the largest of the ships, was used by men as a dormitory, abode, and home in the early years.

It was a safe village, difficult to access, few knew of its existence, those who did were easily defeated in a direct battle, as they were always outnumbered. The village expanded as Xödan evolved, some time later it was open to outsiders, always under the supervision of the great Sheriff Cahill Noah, the greatest Lefulness Sheriff of all times. Some said it was a kind of gift, an inherited talent of the Noah family, the factory of the best sheriffs. Noah had already won many duels. Legend has it that he killed six bandits who one day tried to loot Alfredo, the owner of the biggest bar in the West, Lefulbeer.

Even busy with its imminent evolution, the people of Xödan had never forgotten the destruction caused by the invasion a few hundred years ago. However, the neurosis that an enemy descendant still lived in the lands of Xödan had already been forgotten by less wise beings: men. Now this is because the idea of a descendant of those wandering around terrified the mages, there was nothing worse.

One fine day, the light from the sky was radiant, Alfredo’s clientele was generous, the pianist didn’t even breathe during his song, even Sheriff Noah went to spend an hour inside, as everything was very calm. It was then that a bald man wearing baggy clothes and sporting a huge beard walked into the bar. His half-closed eyes showed the difficulty of his eyes in dealing with the ambient light; he limped with a broken piece of wood. Here is a blind and desperate wizard with his staff broken in half!

Everyone left there by order of the sheriff, who laid the old man on two tables and made him try to open his eyes to show him that he was blind, then the old man said that the descendant was alive, that he was frightening and very powerful: “he he promised me eternal darkness, so I demanded that he measure his words, as I thought he was just another delinquent playing with forces he didn’t know, he didn’t stop, so I raised my hand over his head, but he raised his more quickly over the mine, so I closed my eyes and couldn’t open them anymore, I just heard the sound of your laughter moving away to here, that’s why I came.”. Upon hearing such testimony, Noah went into shock. His father always told him majestic stories about wizards. For him, wizards were invincible, but when he saw the first wizard of his life dying, he encountered a fear he had never felt before, that perhaps the threat that was humanity’s ultimate ruin was here, in front of his bar, and he had just defeated the infamous wizard with just one touch. Now imagine what he would do with a simple man like Noah… He then thought of all his lineage, of the great battles of humanity, of all the men and wizards who had fought on the front lines against thousands of invaders, and decided who would not be afraid if he had to face such a descendant. And so he left the old man in Alfredo’s care and left the bar.

When he got outside, he looked to the left, there was no one, he turned his head slightly to the right, wishing with the deepest and truest feeling of his soul that he didn’t see the descendant, but when he completed the movement, his eyes widened, he realized. the sad confirmation of what was almost imminent: it was really him, standing still, staring intimately into her eyes! Then the sheriff turned to face the firstborn to face him better, placed his thumb first on the revolver, wiggling the other four fingers in a standard motion, the firstborn copying his movements when he looked away. Noah couldn’t think twice, just pulled out his gun and fired. Wondering what it would be like, not just for his home planet, but for the entire galaxy of Odyssey if he missed that shot.

He followed the bullet’s trajectory slowly and with great tension, the blast of that shot was louder than ever, the sound extended to his ears, his brain seemed to begin to sizzle. The greatest strain of his life, the attention focused on that bullet was the most focused ever in the entire history of Xödan; a shot that seemed to go on and on; a glorious or shameful shot; a shot whose end of route was the tree next to the target.

Your odyssey starts now…
